2023 BMW i7 Electric charging

Do you want to save money on gas? How about doing away with transmission fluid changes, radiator flushes, spark plugs, and all of those moving parts you find in an internal combustion engine? Perhaps it’s time to buy a world-class BMW electric vehicle for your Miami drives.

We’ll go over what to look for in an EV with our handy first-time buyer’s guide. BMW plans to expand its fleet of electric vehicles by offering one EV for every internal combustion engine vehicle in its lineup in the coming years.

Four Things to Consider When Buying a BMW Electric Car

You’ll need to weigh several options when choosing to buy a BMW electric vehicle. We’ll go over each one in detail.

  • Overall Cost of Ownership

Owning a BMW electric car can reduce your overall costs of ownership because you won’t need oil changes and fluid changes. However, you’ll need to keep an eye on the tires and brakes. You will also need to install a special home charger to make charging in your Hollywood garage much easier. How often will you need public fast charging? That could cost you money as well, but in general, it’s lower than gas prices, which aren’t going down any time soon.

We highly recommend the BMW Wallbox for home charging. You’ll need an electrician to install one in your garage or carport. However, this is still cheaper than gasoline! BMW also offers two years of free DC Fast Charging service with the purchase or lease of a new BMW EV on the Electrify America charging network.

  • Range, Range, Range

The electric range is a huge consideration for BMW EV owners in Coconut Creek. Luckily, BMW EVs get plenty of range when you go for weekend getaways to your favorite beach, resort, or outdoor destination. You’ll also do well on summer road trips.

  • Map Out Charging Locations Near Fort Lauderdale

The key to long journeys and even Fort Lauderdale-area driving is to map out your trip to make sure your EV will have plenty of power at DC Fast Charging stations available to the public, which you can do with the My BMW App.

Prices will vary at these stations because electricity costs, just like gasoline, vary from city to city. Also, take into account how often you’ll use the air conditioner or heater because those run on electricity from the EV battery.

  • Battery Warranty

The battery warranty gives you an idea of how long an EV powerplant will last. In general, the battery becomes less effective when it can’t keep up to 80% of its charge. You’ll get many great years out of your battery, and it won’t start to lose its charge until you approach 100,000 miles. The battery will wear out eventually because it’s how battery chemistry works. No matter how efficient a battery is, at some point in the future, it won’t be able to keep its charge and you’ll need a new battery for your EV.

BMW has an 8-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the battery. You’ll be good for a very long time with this battery system! If it requires replacement before this time, the automaker will replace it.
