BMW EV Maintenance Guide

2023 BMW i4 Parked Charging

As you drive around Miami and Hollywood, you will likely spot more and more electric vehicles during your travels. EVs offer a number of unique advantages, and one of the key benefits is that they are easier to maintain than vehicles with an internal combustion engine. This is because of their simpler construction and the fact that there are fewer moving parts to worry about. What is still included as part of the BMW electric car maintenance schedule? We have created this BMW EV maintenance guide so that you can stay up-to-date with BMW EV routine maintenance.

BMW Electric Car Maintenance Schedule

BMW EV routine maintenance is a must, so we have highlighted a few service tasks you don’t want to avoid.

  • Battery Checks – The battery is arguably the most important component of your EV. This is why we highly recommend regular battery inspections. This is even more true if your vehicle features a lithium-ion pack. Most EVs are able to travel 100,000 miles or more before a battery replacement is needed.
  • Brake Fluid Replacement – Have the brake fluid replaced every 3-5 years. If you notice that the brake warning light is flashing on your driver information cluster, the brake fluid will need to be replaced sooner.
  • Coolant System Maintenance – A majority of the EVs on Coconut Creek roads are equipped with special thermal management or cooling systems that help keep the battery running smoothly. Consult your owner’s manual to find out when maintenance is recommended by the automaker.
  • Tire Rotation – EVs are often heavier than gasoline-powered vehicles because they have a much bigger battery pack. This makes tire care even more important. Rotate your tires every 5,000 to 10,000 miles.
  • Wheel Alignment – Bring your vehicle in for a wheel alignment every 15,000 miles. This service boosts mile range and reduces tire tread wear.
  • Air Filter Replacement – Prevent pollen, road dust, dirt, and other harmful contaminants from getting into your vehicle by replacing the air filter every 2-3 years. If you have a specialty air filter, this task can be done less frequently, often every 5 years.
